The Explorer™
"Follow the path of intuition."
SOCIAL PREFERENCE
The Explorer is driven by the journey. They like purpose-driven connections where people can engage with others organically. They capture experiences like a time capsule to share— both visually and in written form.
Explorers are Expressive and Amiable.
Those with Expressive preferences tend to be personable, conversational, and enthusiastic. They can be seen as emotional and sometimes opinionated because they often are more open toward others about how they feel.
Amiable preferences tend to be friendly and mild-tempered. They value relationships highly and are often considered agreeable and supportive as they shy away from conflict. These preferences share how they are feeling freely and appreciate building affinity with others.
INTERPRETIVE PREFERENCE
They are energized by planning the path to get to a new idea, and carefully assess and collect all aspects of the environment. Explorers are drawn to creative freedom and orchestrated serendipity.
Physical preferences tend to be drawn to physiological sensations, including motion, touch, sound, taste, light, and smell when connecting with content. Idea preferences gravitate towards notions, abstractions, linear thought, facts, and rationale.
LEARNING PREFERENCE
Explorers are often drawn to independent learning or one-on-one coaching environments. They need a lot of time to think and process information privately before speaking or “thinking out loud”.
They are likely to sketch or write ideas and influences as a way to organize. They appreciate a journey map and like taking pieces of data or input and rotating them like a square or Rubik’s Cube.
Explorers tend to be Kinesthetic and Read-Write learners.
A Kinesthetic learner prefers to use experience and practice as the way to engage with new content and often likes to learn through doing. This can include hands-on activities, workshops, demonstrations, applications, and similar.
A Read-Write learning preference is an affinity to learn best through printed words like books, manuals, reports, and taking notes.
LEADERSHIP PREFERENCE
They are solution finders who lead by example and through testing and reflecting. Explorers ask: “what did we learn from this” and gather qualitative input to develop insights. They are confident, competent, and decisive. They believe that the most powerful contributions often come from the most unexpected places.
Explorers tend to be Solutions Warrior and Missionary Builder leaders.
Solutions Warrior leaders are inclusive in their process of seeking ideas and contributions. This preference cares about incremental results and concrete solutions, drawing upon the team’s collective powers to uncover insights (truths) and flip challenges to opportunities. They tend to leverage communication and their creative skill-set in their work.
Missionary Builder leaders aim for more than mere business success. For them, human values are what drives their passion to succeed. Success for these preferences is gauged by teams, trust, and relationships built in collaboration. Missionary Builders are motivated by initiating change rather than competition or money.
