The Thinker™
“Measure twice, cut once.”
SOCIAL PREFERENCE
Thinkers are a follower of rules, or at least, will ‘get with the program’ as designed. They desire an opportunity to pause and analyze; to deeply listen and understand before speaking.
The Thinker is analytical and driving.
Analytical preferences tend to be more reserved and quiet. They value time to process and think thoughtfully and logically. These preferences are less likely to be spontaneous or jump into something new quickly, as they prefer a slower pace and cautious, critical approach.
Driving preferences tend to be more decisive and direct. They value efficiency and action, as they are driven by results, goals, and objectives. These preferences are considered determined and are more likely to initiate control over situations.
INTERPRETIVE PREFERENCE
Thinkers are grounded in reality and experience the world “as it is” in a very practical, literal fashion. They care about solving problems using the resources that are present, and like ‘multi-platform’ activities that enliven an experience through engaging the senses.
Idea preferences tend to be drawn to notions, abstractions, linear thought, facts, and rationale when connecting with content. Object preferences are drawn to things, aesthetics, artistry, use, ownership, and visual language.
LEARNING PREFERENCE
Thinkers desire a highly structured learning environment. They can comprehend information better when they have a steady, consistent routine. They want clear objectives and expectations and, when possible, they like instructions to be given in sequential, step-by-step order.
Thinkers want to understand intent and appreciate pre-work. They enjoy classes where quiet, passive engagement can still lead to active learning. They like plenty of time to think over the tasks at hand independently before joining a group.
When it comes to learning, they prefer a tidy and well-organized workspace for maximum productivity.
Thinkers tend to be Read-Write and Aural learners.
A Read-Write learning preference is an affinity to learn best through printed words like books, manuals, reports, and taking notes.
Aural learners prefer to learn through Auditory forms of information. These “heard” or “spoken” formats can include discussions, lectures, podcasts, and similar.
LEADERSHIP PREFERENCE
Thinkers lead with strategy, detail, and organization. They appreciate structured meetings and scheduled agendas. Thinkers ultimately fall back on everything that they’ve learned and seen to lead for the future.
Thinkers tend to be Analytical Solvers & Entrepreneurial Dreamers.
Analytical Solver leaders are the first to confront difficulties and identify new opportunities. They apply facts and logic, rely on experienced perspectives to assess consequences, and consider all sides of a problem. This preference tends to follow their instincts gained over their experiences and show initiative.
Entrepreneurial Dreamer leadership is about the thrill of competition and the quest for success. These preferences dare to pursue a grand vision or dream, and their success is gauged by a data dashboard, measurable variables, and progress against the desired goals.
